About This Site

This site is a blog to accompany the exhibition Fields, Factories and Workshops, at the Centre for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow, 7th August to 18th September, 2010. Featuring work by the Glasgow-based artist Simon Yuill. Yuill is fascinated by the different implications of land and space.  In particular, this show examines the relationship between communities' interactions with space, such as living, working and migrating, and the legal processes which these entail.  Informed by the legacy of systems art, Yuill explores 'politics' in a broad sense, considering groups of people who have identified themselves with a particular location, history or culture, and who use this identification to form cohesive collectives which are capable of effecting social, political or legal change.

The website provides information about the works and events that are part of the exhibition, these include discussion workshops, film screenings and a music performance.

It will document the different events and provide a resource for the discussion group that is open for anyone to join who is interested in the themes of the exhibition.

As part of this, the website provides additional material related to the themes of the exhibition: short texts, quotes from different sources, images, and video clips. It will be expanded and added to over the coming months.
